01 · PLAN THE WEEK

Check practice

Open Calendar-Training. Confirm your athlete’s program, location, practice time, and any holiday or closure notices.

02 · LOOK AHEAD

Review upcoming meets

Open Calendar-Meets and choose All USA1. Read Summary & Enter, the meet page, deadlines, and the coach’s notes.

03 · FINISH YOUR TASKS

Respond and prepare

Confirm family availability, review entry instructions, and check current coach messages again before leaving home.

A meet on the calendar: what happens next?

StepYour family’s action
Team planCheck the meet page to understand who should attend, the location, and the coach’s instructions.
CommitmentRecord your athlete’s availability in Family Commitments, including relay availability when requested.
Event planningFollow the coach’s process for selecting events. Use Meet Entry Planning when directed; requests still need coach review.
Meet entryFollow the meet’s registration instructions and deadline. If Fast Swims is required, use the OME-Fast Swims guide and confirm the accepted entry.
Meet dayRecheck arrival time, warm-up, sessions, and the exact pool address. Open Locations for directions and local facilities.
Keep these steps separate: the team attending a meet, your family committing, and your athlete’s accepted meet entry are three different things. A calendar listing or commitment alone does not confirm registration.

Before you leave home

  • Check current coach communication and schedule changes.
  • Confirm the venue and the coach’s requested arrival time.
  • Bring your athlete’s suit, cap, goggles, towels, water, and familiar snacks.
  • Review team-area, parking, and spectator instructions.

Common first-week questions

Which calendar should I use?

Calendar-Training covers practice planning; Calendar-Meets covers competitions. Check Calendar-SafeSport and Calendar-Volunteers for family responsibilities.

What if two schedules disagree?

Compare the latest coach message with the calendar and official meet announcement. Ask the coach to resolve the difference before making plans.

How can our family help?

Review volunteer opportunities and complete applicable Safe Sport tasks. Ask the coach which roles are most useful for your family.
